    Crop Insurance News and Analysis – September 4, 2019

    On September 4, 2019, the Risk Management Agency (RMA) issued Product Management Bulletin: PM-19-050 announcing the harvest prices for certain crops and states.

    ANALYSIS –

    For barley with a September 30 sales closing date in California (Winter & Spring Types), Colorado (Spring Types), Idaho (Winter & Spring Types), Oregon (Winter & Spring Types) and Washington (Winter & Spring Types) the price declined from $3.13 a bushel to $2.99 a bushel. For the organic practice, the price declined from $6.68 to $6.38.

    For barley with an October 31 sales closing date in Nevada (Winter & Spring Types) and Utah (Winter & Spring Types) the price declined from $3.13 a bushel to $2.99 a bushel. Organic prices declined from $6.68 a bushel to $6.38 a bushel.

    For barley with a March 15 sales closing date in California (Winter Types w/o Winter Coverage Endorsement & Spring Types), Colorado (Spring Types), Idaho (Winter Types w/o Winter Coverage Endorsement & Spring Types), Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, Oregon (Winter Types w/o Winter Coverage Endorsement & Spring Types), South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, Washington (Winter Types w/o Winter Coverage Endorsement & Spring Types), Wisconsin and Wyoming the price decreased from $3.13 a bushel to $2.99 a bushel. Organic prices declined from $6.68 a bushel to $6.38 a bushel.

    For canola with an August 31 Sales Closing Date in Idaho (Fall Type(s)), Oregon (Fall Type(s)) and Washington (Fall Type(s)) the price declined from $.171 a pound to $.154 a pound. For canola rapeseed types, the price increased from $.245 a pound to $.246 a pound.

    For corn in Texas, the price declined from $4.00 a bushel to $3.76 a bushel and organic declined from $9.22 a bushel to $8.66 a bushel.

    For corn in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and South Carolina the price decreased from $3.97 a bushel to $3.76 a bushel. The organic price declined from $9.15 a bushel to $8.66 a bushel.

    For grain sorghum in Texas the price declined from $3.96 to $3.70 a bushel and the organic price declined from $8.38 to $7.84 a bushel.

    For grain sorghum in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina, the price declined from $3.95 a bushel to $3.79 a bushel. The organic price declined from $8.36 a bushel to $8.03 a bushel.

    Popcorn in Alabama had a price decline from $.1707 to $.1617 a pound. The organic price declined from $.2457 a pound to $.2327 a pound.

    Long grain rice in Texas had a price increase from $.108 a pound to $.113 a pound. The organic price increased from $.145 to $.151 a pound. Long grain rice in Louisiana had a price increase from $.108 a pound to $.113 a pound. The organic price increased from $.145 a pound to $.151 a pound.

    For medium and short grain rice in Texas, the price increased from $.114 a pound to $.124 a pound. The organic price increased from $.153 a pound to $.166 a pound. Medium and short grain rice in Louisiana had a price increase from $.114 to $.120 a pound the organic price increased from $.153 a pound to $.160 a pound.

    For winter wheat in Wisconsin, the price declined from $5.72 a bushel to $4.75 a bushel. The organic practice price declined from $12.84to $10.66 a bushel. For winter wheat in Montana and Wyoming, the price declined from $5.84 a bushel to $3.99 a bushel. The organic price declined from $13.11 a bushel to $8.96 a bushel.

    For spring wheat with a September 30 sales closing date, the price declined from $5.77 a bushel to $5.05 a bushel. The organic price declined from $12.95 a bushel to $11.34 a bushel.

    For winter wheat in California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, the price declined from $6.59 a bushel to $5.75 a bushel. The organic price declined from $14.79 a bushel to $12.91 a bushel.

    For winter wheat with an October 31 sales closing date in Nevada and Utah, the price declined from $5.75 a bushel to $5.05 a bushel. The organic price declined from $12.91 a bushel to $11.34 a bushel.

    For spring wheat with an October 31 sales closing date in Nevada and Utah, the price declined from $6.21 a bushel to $5.05 a bushel. The organic price declined from $13.94 a bushel to $11.34 a bushel.

    For spring wheat in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington, the price declined from $6.21 a bushel to $5.05 a bushel. The organic price declined from $13.94 a bushel to $11.34 a bushel.

    For wheat with a March 15 sales closing date in Alaska, California, Colorado, Iowa, Maine, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Wyoming the price declined from $5.77 a bushel to $5.05 a bushel. Organic prices declined from $12.95 a bushel to $$11.34 a bushel.

    For durum wheat in Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota, the price declined from $5.98 a bushel to $5.24 a bushel. The organic price declined from $13.43 a bushel to $11.76 a bushel.
